Current Positions Available

Job Title:
Controls Engineer

Classification:
Exempt

Reports to:
Director of Engineering

Supervisory responsibilities:
None

Summary/objective: The Controls Engineer can expect to provide concepts, architecture, electrical design, logic design, development, debugging, and support on Programmable Logic Controller operated equipment in high-volume, automated factory settings.

Essential Functions:

  • Program, troubleshoot, and support machines that are built onsite and in the field.
  • Supporting Field Service Technicians with program related troubleshooting. This may require traveling to customer locations or remote support.
  • Run initial commissioning of machines using the developed program. Debugging any issues that may occur during initial testing.
  • Work with Electrical Drafter on hardware design and bill of materials.
  • Customize program features based on customer specifications.
  • Collaborate with team on research and development projects that could be implemented on future projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of PLC hardware, software platforms, and HMI programming.
  • Programming of Allen-Bradley PLCs or CODESYS PLC systems (Siemens, Beckhoff, etc./Bosch RexRoth preferred)
  • Experienced in IEC programming languages; Ladder logic, Function blocks and Structured text.
  • Web development skills preferred; HTML, Java Script, CSS, SQL, Python and Visual basics.
  • 2-4 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Organization- be able to manage multiple projects to meet important deadlines.

Work environment: Mostly indoor plant environment along with a moderate office environment. Noise level moderate with machines running.

Physical demands: Able to sit, stand, walk throughout the scheduled work shift. Able to lift and/or move up to 60 lbs.

Travel:  20-30% travel to customers to assist with programing issues in the field.

Job Title:
Field Service Technician

Classification:
Non-Exempt

Reports to:
Service Managers

Supervisory responsibilities:
None

Summary/objective: The role of the Field Service Technician is to install, inspect, diagnose, adjust, and repair VisionPak machines. Perform maintenance on machines including resolving mechanical and electrical malfunctions.

Essential Functions:

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment in the field.
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Inform management and compile reports/summaries on services performed.
  • Effectively explain and train on function of equipment to customers.
  • Work constructively with customers.
  • When not at customers’ facility, will assist with assembly of machines at Vision-Pak Packaging.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record and ability to rent a vehicle when needed.
  • Reside locally, within 1 hour driving distance from CP Packaging located in Appleton, WI.
  • Basic hand tools required. List is attached.

Work environment: Mostly indoor plant environment along with a moderate office environment. Noise level moderate with machines running.

Physical demands: Able to sit, stand, walk throughout the scheduled work shift. Able to lift and/or move up to 60 lbs.

Travel: Available to travel 24/7, frequently with short notice. May include nights and weekends.  Airline travel may be required.

Education and experience:

  • Previous experience with food packaging machines preferred. PLC knowledge ideal but not required.
  • 3-10 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience in an electromechanical field.
